There's been rumors going around that there's a considerable sozed group that is at least considering doing Ironman Wisconsin in 2006. Since there's a lot of training that goes into doing that type of distance if your considering doing one in 2006 it not' to early to start planning and getting ready now. What we'd like to do as a club is to get a group of people together that are potentially considering doing this race in 2006 and put together some sort of "plan" to get there. We'd like to earmark a few 1/2 IM's for this year and get a basic training plan down so we can all be on a similar path. Obviously those that have several of these under their belt can help those of us that don't, along our way. A few things to keep in mind. First the Ironman Wisconsin, and WTC events in general fill up pretty quickly. IMWI filled up in 12hrs last year. Alls that means is you have to have your mind made up a year in

advance, if you're going to do this race or not. Also it's neither a good idea nor all that safe to go from couch potato to "MR Ironman" in a year, in my opinion. There's a lot of base miles, shorter races, things to learn in order to have an enjoyable and successful IM race day...again IMO. What I'm trying to say is if you've done a few sprint races, maybe an Olympic distance you'll probably want to put in at least a half IM this year, preferably two. Again something that will take a bit of planning. At present we already have quite a crew doing the "Spirit of Racine" http://www.spiritofracinetri.com/index.php tri later in the year. If doing Ironman Wisoconsin is something you may be interested in please contact me at newsletter@Rockfordtri.com.
